The ZSW electrolysis systems are operated with process control systems with safety in mind. The systems can be monitored and controlled remotely.
Introduction of an electrolysis stack (here: approx. 300 kW) into the system environment. The stack weighs about 2 tons therefore a suitable forklift is required for this process. The electrolysis system is designed in such a way that stacks and other components can be easily serviced and replaced as and when necessary.

Alkaline high-pressure electrolysis system at the ZSW, designed for a connected load of 1 MW at an operating pressure of 16 bar. The CE-certified container-mounted system was tested in real conditions at the H2 hub in Grenzach-Wyhlen on the High Rhine.
A look inside the gas process technology in electrolysis “Made in Baden-Württemberg”. The two gas separators (above) are used to separate the product gases H2 and O2 produced in the electrolysis stack (below) from the electrolyte (potassium hydroxide solution). This is returned to the electrolysis stack through a pumping and piping system.
